Monkey of the month

Yesterday morning my friends Heidi and Bart asked me join them in indoor climbing. Bart has practiced climbing for few months already and Heidi joined him on three previous times. As i didn't have any other plans, i was willing to do something different and challenging.
I got a climbing equipments from cashier, shoes (that felt really uncomfortable, but was supposed to be like that) and harness. Then we met two other friends of Bart and Heidi's, finnish and dutch guy, who joined us. I have done climbing only once before -about 6-7 years ago- but don't remember much about it. So, i was told the basic things about climbing and guys helped me to wear the harness. I observed how the others do it and found out the difficulties of routes that was marked with different colour of stones. And of course the main level of difficulty came from the angle of the wall and the shape of the stones too. Was better not to try any specific route at the beginning, but just start with any stones to hold (on the posivive wall ;) and see how the climbing itself goes. It went fine and i was ready to challenge myself. According to Heidi the easiest route was with yellow stones. I managed it quite easily. The next difficult was the red route... It wasn't that easy anymore, but i made it ;) I was really proud of myself and also the others were surprised i did it so easily even though it was my second time in my entire life to practise climbing. Bart even gave me a name "A monkey of the month". I was so encouraged by my promotion that i wanted to try the third level of difficulty. That level was much more difficult to the previous one that we made some rules to make route a little easier. Was allowed to use 3 yellow stones during the route. Got to the top on the second try after struggling with tiredness and lack of stones - but used only 2 yellow stones at the end.

Was so happy about my fullfilled targets that thought it's better to finish this time and not to try too much. Only wanted to get a feeling of how to climb on the negative wall, but it was a little too demanding to my tired hands and arms. But as a monkey of the month -as promoted- i was willing to do climbing soon again and challenge myself with more demanding targets. ;)
