Parties in a gloomy autumn
After a brilliant summer there is always a gloomy autumn to follow. This autumn is fortunately cheered up by many parties and fests. For last four weeks i attented many good parties and forgot the grey and rainy autumn.
My brother finally finished his doctorate thesis and had dissertation on 29th september. All our family, Tero's friends and colleagues attended 4hours lasting lectre of something so technical topic, that i had better not to try to explain it. The only things i got were the sarcastic jokes he had with his opponent... (although this lecture is supposed to be really serious one ;)
After lecture we had Ph.D party in a really nice palace, everybody dressed up with their best ones. We had there really good fun, drinking expensive wines, eating three course french meal and just enjoying time together with all family and friends. The young and energetic ones still had a afterward party in fancy nightclub, parents and professors had time to give up. And the youngest one (who is, by the way, me ;) was willing to go on little later, but had to take care of big brothers and bring on of them back to hotel. Also the other one was taken home by his wife... Looks like they haven't been practising enough if little sister drinks both of brothers under the table.
On the following weekend my good friend got married with a german man. Their wedding took place in eastern part of Finland and i headed there by car with two friends, without my boyfriend. The other friend is from Germany and we were buddies during his exchange year in Jyväskylä. It was 4 years since we met each other last time and now he came all the way to Pieksämäki to attend wedding. The other friend i didn't even meet before that day, only exchanced some emails. She is a friend of bride and

lives nowadays in England. The trip overall was really nice, we got along very well and had fun on the way, it would have been so lonely to go to the wedding without them as i didn't really know anybody else but wedding couple. After the bilingual ceremony in church we celebrated in a big cottage. In the dining table, where i was seated, there were six girls. The bride might have planned that carefully as we found immediately a common topic. Three out of six ones have a foreign boyfriend or husband. First i just listened and asked about the equadorian boyfriend and their live, moroccon husband and their family life with two kids. Just at the end of talking i told i was so curious about their experiences and life with a foreign partner as i have a boyfriend from japan. They wondered with one throat "No away, you must be kidding!!!"
Again one week passed and one of my colleague had his thirties. He invited people from our department and we were eight quests going to his place on saturday evening. (Hope he won't read this,) but i can say i was so positively surprised about how clean and nice decorated can a flat of single guy's be. I like the interior as it was almost same as mine :) red wall in living room, exactly same couch and same dinner set, he must have been spying my flat and copying my style - no other chance for single guy to do that. But the cooking he did was also really surprising good, nice bites, salad and delicious cakes. We drunk wine (and we really drunk in the word's deepest meaning!) and had good time together. It's good to relax with your colleagues as it really relaxes the atmosphere in the office too. At night i got a brilliant idea to end up the party at my place as i have lot of whisky there. Luckily i called my boyfriend before going home with some buddies, and from his point of view the idea wasn't that good at all...
Getting already to this weekend, yesterday evening a really good friend of mine, Mervi (who went to Malaysia with me a year ago) organized a house warming party, as she moved to new flat a month ago. Unfortunately i had to go there without my darling since he is in Japan at the moment. Not only me, but also Mervi's albanian boyfriend would like to see him in the party, as they get along very well. Also my boyfriend has been so willing to see Mervi's cat, as we have heard so funny stories about it destroying everything in the house and acting like a crazy.
But he still didn't have a chance to see it. But it was nice to get to know some new friends and just talk some crazy topics and laugh out of breath with them. Only four of us headed to the center afterwards, but others went back home. We didn't really find an interesting place to go although had a long walking tour around city. Finally we ended up to a bar where we always go. Familiar and safe choice.
While writing this blog i just realized there were only one weekend when we didn't party or do anything with foreing people. That is true that my friends are really international people, most of my friends are from abroad and most of my female friends have a foreing partner (don't know what's wrong with finnish gyus ;o)
